ECG Interpretation is one of the most common investigations performed by physicians, surgeons, general practitioners, nursing staff and paramedics. For cardiologists or those who read ECGs every day, pattern recognition in ECGs can become fairly straightforward; for most others even basic ECGs can present problems. If you are a non-expert, a trainee, or simply lack confidence in reliably interpreting ECGs then visit our books as they will help you to be able to read and understand ECG Interpretation

What is an ECG?
An ECG – or electrocardiogram - is a simple and useful test which records the rhythm and electrical activity of the heart.  Small sticky patches called electrodes will be put onto the arms, legs and chest. These are connected to an ECG recording machine which picks up the electrical signals that make the heart beat.
